Mark, Managing Director of the Channel Islands at First Names Group, was named Director of the Year for a Large Organisation by the Jersey Institute of Directors (IoD) at its annual award ceremony on Friday 16 May at the Radisson Blu Hotel.
The six award categories honour directors from the Jersey private and public sector, with the winners recognised for their outstanding achievements and leadership qualities. The judging panel believed Mark stood out from the competition, stating that; “We were impressed with the changes that Mark had led through the last few years, building a fantastic brand and a force to be reckoned with in the Channel Islands. We were particularly impressed with Mark's growth strategy.”
Mark started his career with PwC where he qualified as a Chartered Accountant, gaining international experience in Singapore, Melbourne and London before returning to Jersey to Langtry Trust Group and leading the sale of that business to IFG International in 2005. Since then he has enjoyed rapid progression through the ranks and now sits on the board of First Names Group and heads up the organisation’s Private Client Service Line. Mark plays a fundamental part in the Group’s Leadership Team and has been instrumental in the rebrand and rapid growth of the organisation.
Panel chair Eliot Lincoln, founder of Greenlight and himself a past winner, stated that the strength of the nominations made the judging extremely challenging.
Mark Pesco, Managing Director of the Channel Islands, further comments;
“I am absolutely thrilled to have won this award and so flattered to be recognised with such a prestigious industry honour. The IoD is a fantastic organisation and I cannot speak highly enough of the work they do in the local Jersey business community. The last few years have been challenging and rewarding in equal measure; the Group’s new brand and scale of growth we have achieved are phenomenal and I count myself very lucky to be part of such an innovative and ambitious leadership team.”
