Name: Matthew Le Bourgeois

Job title: Accounting Assistant

Department: Accounting, Moore Management (Funds)

When did you join Moore Management? 1 June 2015

What made you choose Moore Management? When I came back to Jersey, I looked at the 'Big Four' grad schemes, but I didn't want to be just a number in a huge firm. I wanted a company where people knew each other and where your work was valued and recognised. That's why I applied to Moore, and I got a great impression of the company during my interview process. My nerves went straight out of the window when I received a warm welcome at reception and was introduced to my friendly line manager.

What makes Moore such a special place to work? I really like the culture, the training opportunities and the team, plus I get all the benefit of being part of a large firm as Moore Management is part of First Names Group. It’s the best of both worlds. Moore also really promotes a healthy work/life balance; you can take charge of your own training and development and progress at a pace that suits you.

What is the best thing about your job? Believe it or not, I actually really enjoy the satisfaction of completing a complex spreadsheet! I’m also the ‘Brand Champion’ for Moore. As a Brand Champion I provide the Group Marketing team with support on internal events, mini campaigns and various other things. It’s great because it brings together First Names from around the world that may not cross paths otherwise.

What professional qualifications are you doing? I am currently studying towards my Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) qualification.

Where do you see yourself in five years’ time? Becoming a Member of the ACCA and adding real value to the accounting team at Moore.

What do you do to unwind? I enjoy photography and spending time with family and friends.

What’s the social scene like at First Names Group and Moore? It’s great. Being part of a bigger group means there’s always something going on! We also have monthly drinks in the Moore Jersey office which gives us all a good chance to catch up.

What did you want to be when you were 10? An RAF Pilot… or a biscuit designer.

How did you celebrate your degree result? I had some champagne and went for a nice meal at Bohemia, one of Jersey’s Michelin-starred restaurants, with my family.

What’s your favourite possession? My SLR camera.

Favourite drink? You can’t beat a cold Corona with a slice of lime in the summer.

Night on the town or on the sofa? Night on the town.
