Emily Aristidou likes structure. She always has. As a little girl she would line up her toys end to end. As she grew up she saw how the application of structure makes sense of the world. It allows a myriad of different people, ideas and beliefs to coexist – we call it law. Emily uses her knowledge of the law in her position as Senior Manager, Legal Services for First Names Group in Cyprus. She is responsible for drafting documents and keeping up to date with changes in the law.
There is no limit to what can be accomplished when no one cares who gets the credit
With a Bachelor of Law degree from Sheffield University under her belt Emily went on to achieve a Masters degree in European and International Law, completing a thesis on Human Rights and fair trial. Having obtained her licence from the Cyprus Bar Association in 2004 one of the proudest moments was winning a court case against the odds.
IN THREE WORDS:
Highly motivated to find out the ‘why’ and the ‘how’ of things and always willing to learn from others, Emily is in her element amongst her colleagues at First Names. She genuinely believes that she learns something new everyday from a host of people, particularly from her director Constantinos Meivatzis, because he has the ability to always see the big picture and foresee future issues.
Wishing that there were more than 24 hours in a day is every working mother’s prerogative - especially those with an extremely cute and active three year old. Weekends are spent with family and friends either in the mountains or at her parent’s home for a Sunday meal. Emily includes learning to cook and speaking Arabic in her bucket list but until she has mastered some culinary skills she will keep to eating food that someone else has served.
