The first name in CLASSIC CARS

James Haithwaite is a Client Services Director in our Jersey office where he leads a team of skilled private client practitioners with a focus on alternative assets, especially classic cars. A long time enthusiast of all things motor related, he turned that early passion into expertise and now specialises in the management and curation of collectable cars. Our clients know they’re in good hands with James, who can tell the difference between a Ferrari 330 and a 365 GTC at a glance.

To know how to do something well is to enjoy doing it.

James has over 26 years’ experience in the trust and fiduciary industry and has worked in both bank owned and independent trust companies. Initially managing traditional fiduciary assets as part of family office offerings, his role evolved into providing expert independent services to collectors looking to acquire, maintain, restore, transport, exhibit and dispose or trade their classic cars as these vehicles became a separate asset class in their own right. James is a fully qualified chartered secretary and is a member of both the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (ICSA) and the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP).

James spends much of his time travelling in the UK, Europe and the US on behalf of clients and liaising with his network of insurers, vehicle historians, brokers and auction houses, as well as independent marque specialists. A people person who enjoys building strong relationships with clients, intermediaries and his team, James values commitment and positivity in his colleagues. He particularly admires the ‘can do’ attitude of Ben Newman and Kevin O’Connell.

It’s not all about cars – James enjoys exploring new places, preferably on a RIB (rigid inflatable boat) or his trusty paddle board, and looks forward to making it to Australia someday for a holiday with his family. Equally appreciative of French and English cuisine, he would love to become more fluent in French so that he can make people laugh for all the right reasons when spending time there.
