Maria Nurieva is a Legal Manager at First Names Group in Cyprus.
Since arriving in Nicosia, Cyprus, from Russia, Maria has been applying her extensive knowledge of corporate and international law to a broad portfolio of clients. Extremely detail-orientated she oversees the statutory components of incorporation, including drafting and negotiating transactional documents. Maria joined the group in 2008 where she provides legal advisory services as well as ensuring effective management of legal and contractual risk.
Follow your dreams – they know the way.
Having both parents working in the theatre business was enough motivation for Maria to seek out a more stable career – and she duly enrolled at the Russian State Institute of Intellectual Property in Moscow where she graduated with a degree in patent, copyright and trademark law. Finding her niche in the burgeoning online world, she added further qualifications in intellectual property law. Fully embracing her new home, Maria has studied Greek at the University of Cyprus. In time she hopes to add Italian, Spanish and Turkish to her language repertoire.
IN THREE WORDS:
Highly motivated by her satisfied clients, Maria credits the strong relationships inherent in the team for this success. Professional growth comes from ongoing learning and constructive feedback – Maria ensures she is always open to both. She particularly appreciates support and guidance from Marios Alexandrou who freely shares his experience. Describing Olia Hadjioannou as easy going and friendly, they enjoy tacking challenges together.
FIRST DAY OF THE REST OF HER LIFE: MEETING HER HUSBAND
Theatre road trips with her family spawned a travel bug she has yet to shake off. Her ideal trip would include sightseeing in New York, or a more leisurely yoga master class in Bali. Her taste in food matches her sense of adventure and she happily tucks-in to sushi and sashimi, but for real comfort food you can’t beat traditional Uzbek cuisine. Surprisingly for a person so balanced, Maria cannot ride a bicycle – but is a demon on roller-skates.
