Matthew Chambers is a Director of Risk in Jersey with over 20 years’ experience in the industry. Before he made the move into risk, Matthew worked for the trust company of a global bank, where he specialised in ultra high net worth Middle Eastern clients, and subsequently as a regulator with the Jersey Financial Services Commission.
The biggest risk in life is not taking any risk at all.
Matthew’s philosophy is that risk will always exist, but if it’s managed well it can support a healthy and thriving business. Knowledgeable and highly experienced, he spends a large portion of his time educating people how to mitigate rather than fear risk.
IN THREE WORDS:
Matthew has a Society of Trust and Estate Practitioner (STEP) diploma in International Trust Management and in Employee Share Ownership Plans. He has also passed the Securities Institute Regulation and Compliance module. He considers the best part of his job to be the people he works with, especially Paul Burke who tolerates his inability to fully grasp the minutiae of an Excel spreadsheet.
A long-time resident of Jersey, Matthew was born in Hong Kong. A keen traveller and a VW enthusiast, he’s often seen driving around in his 50-year-old VW van with family and friends. He’s even taken it all the way to Germany – without a single break-down
