The first name in optimisation

Andrew Ruddy does a lot more than count the beans.

As Group Financial Director, he is responsible for the financial checks and balances that keep First Names Group firmly on the path to success - and he is always on the lookout for new ways to improve business performance. With a sharp, analytical mind, he is a truly strategic thinker and plays an essential role in determining future focus.

Nobody invests in yesterday; we need to create the future.

Andy mastered the laws of physics (honours) at Surrey University, before applying himself to the laws of accounting - qualifying as a Chartered Accountant in 1997. Proud of his academic achievements he is also a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, while key leadership roles with well-regarded financial service companies have given him the practical experience to lead his team with an easy-going confidence.

Momentum is Andy's mantra, and the strong sense of people on a mission is what initially attracted him to First Names Group. He relates to the way his colleagues embrace change, especially Eric Fady whose clear decision making he greatly admires.

Always open to new ideas, Andy lists process innovation as a priority. Finding ways to work smarter is always on the table. He loves the challenge and buzz of working to tight deadlines, getting huge satisfaction from achieving his targets.

With three young children, Andy's weekends can be pretty frenetic. But like most busy people, the more he has to do, the more he seems to get done. An accomplished musician, he plays the bass guitar, sax and piano. He has even taken up triathlons - competing with characteristic determination and predictable success.
