The first name in pragmatic solutions

Mike Pownall is a Client Services Director for First Names Group in Jersey.

Mike leads a team of skilled administrators in servicing a varied portfolio of international high- and ultra-high-net-worth private clients with complex multi-asset holding structures spanning a number of jurisdictions. He prides himself on building and maintaining strong, enduring relationships with both his clients and intermediaries.

When you decide to do something, remind yourself that it is commitment not motivation that matters.

With over 30 years in the industry, Mike is a seasoned finance professional who began his career in client account management for a leading British retail bank before moving into fiduciary services. He has since gained experienced in both bank-owned and independent trust companies. Before joining First Names Group in 2018, was a director of a Jersey private trust company. Mike holds the Diploma in Trust and Estate Practice from the Chartered Institute of Bankers (now IFS School of Finance), the ATT qualification from the Association of Taxation Technicians, as well as an Honours degree in Financial Services from the University of Manchester.

Mike thoroughly enjoys meeting people and encourages open, productive dialogue across all levels to ensure delivery of the very best client service. When it comes to solving problems, he is especially tenacious. As such, he particularly likes working with solution-driven Andrew De La Haye and John Hughes for his knowledge and focus on the end goal.

FIRST FOREIGN HOLIDAY: Tunisia. Great childhood memories, but did not enjoy the food back then!

As a child, Mike has aspirations to join the Royal Air Force. While this wasn’t the path he ended up taking, he has recently achieved his Private Pilot Licence and his new ambition is to pilot a private plane around Europe. Mike enjoys travelling and would love to explore South America, taking plenty of time to sip Malbec in Buenos Aires, but his favourite place on earth is looking out over the Clwydian Range near where he grew up in North Wales.
